Shrawan Chopra is a partner at Anand and Anand . Shrawan has been actively involved in the field of Intellectual Property for the last one and a half decades.
After completing his undergraduate degree from Delhi University, Shrawan completed his law degree from Agra University.
Thereafter he joined Anand and Anand and was actively involved in Intellectual Property litigation working in areas ranging from Copyright Law, Trademark and law relating to domain names.
After working at Anand and Anand for a few years, Shrawan took a sabbatical and enrolled for his LLM at Franklin Pierce Law Center (now University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law).
After re-joining Anand and Anand, Shrawan has been actively involved in Intellectual Property Litigation before Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court of India. He has also been involved with proceedings before the Writ Courts, as well as the Intellectual Property Appellate Board (IPAB).
He has been involved with numerous path breaking Patent disputes such as the Enercon dispute before the Supreme Court of India, which laid down the framework for how patents could be challenged after they were granted in India and disallowed multiple challenges to a patent.
Shrawan was a part of the core team acting on behalf of F. Hoffmann La Roche against Cipla which is one of India’s leading cases on patent law and lays down extensive jurisprudence with respect to the said field.
He was also a part of the team which was successful in setting aside the Delhi High Court judgment against Monsanto, before the Supreme Court of India.
Most recently, Shrawan was a part of the Ferid Allani decision of the Delhi High Court which shed light on how inventions related to Software Patents were to be adjudicated in India.
Shrawan, is an active contributor to various Intellectual Property publications such as Managing Intellectual Property, Asia Business Law Journal etc.
Most recently Shrawan has co-authored the Indian Chapter for in the Intellectual Property Review (8 th Edition).
Shrawan has been an active part of AIPPI for over the last decade and has regularly attended various AIPPI events and congress all over the world.
He was also a part of the organizing committee of the Aippi Exco and Forum 2011 which took place in Hyderabad.
